The truth is that more and more Americans are choosing to work from home. Working out of your own home office has a lot of perks. No one knows what you look like at 8 AM; you can be lounging in your PJ’s and eating breakfast while working on the computer and no one is around to judge you!

Another upside of a home office is that all your files are probably not more than an arm’s length away. And if you are a real computer guru almost everything you need is already on your computer.

The downside of working at home is that it is very easy to become sloppy and unorganized. Necessary papers may be easily lost and family or household distractions can be a constant interruption into your day.

And, there is always the thought that you can work whenever you decide. The problem with this is that time can get away from you much faster than you realize. If you keep putting things off until you “feel like it” you may find yourself constantly working until 4 AM or worse, losing important clientele.

In order to bridge the comfy of working at home with the professionalism that will insure your business moves ahead, you must become organized and efficient within that setting.

Organize!

Make sure that your office is clean and well kept, Know where everything is so that you can find necessary papers within seconds.

Set a schedule.

You are certainly free to bend that schedule for company or special outings, but for the most part adhere to a schedule that makes sense for you.

Do this and reap success.

When someone says “education” what is the first thing that comes to mind?

If you said hours and years of college, sitting at desks in front of teachers and blackboards, you will have matched the answer of millions of other Americans. Of course, university learning is now available online with solid degrees, which is a great thing. And some, like the prestigious MIT online program, are even offered free.

However, in today’s world of technology and the ability for anyone to access a continual universe of information, education can become close up and personal in a way that was never before possible.

And the really exciting news of the modern age is that there is also a whole world of information to be studied and learned on one’s own. Self-directed students are the fastest and most solid learners in the world.

Think about that.

When someone is learning because they want to, not only is the process exciting, the student is going to move fast and excel at the information they are digesting. And, they are going continue learning for the rest of their life.

Perhaps it is now time to think of “education” in broader terms. Maybe it is also time to take responsibility for one’s own learning and understanding of the vast world of potential that lies ahead.

Einstein once said: “The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education.”

If one of the world’s greatest minds understood this, then perhaps it is time for each individual to become responsible and excited about what real learning is, and where it can take them.

Many homeschoolers are consistently doing well in testing and college entrance examines. Because of this there are many parents across the country, that have the luxury to be home with their children, who are turning to homeschooling as a way to individualize their children’s education.

One of the biggest assets to any homeschooling curriculum is the Internet and the technology that allows students to access information from all over the world. Through the Internet, families can not only work with online schools and universities; they can also gain information on almost every subject imaginable.

The good news is that many online high quality courses are free! ACT sample tests are readily available as well, allowing students to test themselves as they get ready for a college or university experience. Even subjects like math can be found readily available and easy to understand, making math seem a like breeze, instead of a burden, to online learners.

Music and art can also be found online, as well as forums that can help artistic students find appropriate venues, classes, and opportunities close by in the meat world.

One of the greatest advantages of homeschooling and the Internet is the hands-on experience with computer technology and all that it is capable of. Many students become extremely proficient in real time computer skills giving them an incredible advantage in the working world.

If you are considering a home school option, then make sure that a thorough and appropriate education on, around, and about the computer is at the center; this will prepare your student in ways previously undreamed of.

There are still millions of businesses that do not use the Internet effectively for marketing. This is a shame since a huge market can be reached online, and a specific market can even be targeted. If you are looking for ways to market your business on the Internet more effectively, take a look at these options.

Use Social Media: People spend a lot of time on social networks so this is a great place to look for potential new clients. Businesses can set up a page where users can “like” them and businesses can also create a company profile. Businesses can use status updates to post coupons and other incentives to consumers.

Pay-Per-Click Campaigns: You can subscribe to an ad service that contracts with websites to post your ads on their sidebar. This can be highly targeted and bring you a ton a good hits. It is called “pay-per-click” because each click will cost you a small fee. With the right manager, you can get a lot of good leads and make a ton of money

Guest Blogging: If you have experts in your company, you can have them write informational pieces and then find blogs that take guests posts. This is a great way to get additional customers because you are able to provide a link back to your website. Guest blogging also helps your link building efforts.

Hire an SEO company: Getting your name to the top of the search engine result is essential in making money. SEO companies work on link building and the overall structure of your website.

The Internet is a great place to market your business. Don’t miss out.

Technology is great because it has brought about the ability for students to get an education without ever setting foot in a brick and mortar school. Some people just do not perform well in the traditional classroom, and the online environment is the best way to help them learn. Students of all age levels now have the opportunity to take online classes and use the resources available on the Internet for their education.

Image via Wikipedia

One of the biggest advantages to online schools is that students are able to work at their own pace. This means that college students can work full-time jobs and never have to worry about scheduling conflicts. This is a great benefit since it is nearly impossible to pay for school and living expenses on a part-time income. Plus, there are plenty of different online schools to choose from so students can work on almost any program imaginable.

Another advantage to online schools is the close attention students can receive from their teachers. Technology enables students to have their progress closely monitored, and exam results can be received instantly, too. Students can also communicate quickly with their teacher through email and have their questions answered promptly.

Some people worry that online schools do not give a good enough education to students. This couldn’t be farther from the truth, because it is actually more difficult to pass an online class than it is to pass a class in a traditional class. Don’t be afraid to try a different learning style.

One of the hardest things about running a business is ensuring that the profits are more than the expenditures. Most companies hire an account to track things like this for them. If you want to make sure your company’s pocketbook stays in the black, you should do everything you can to save money, which is the same advice you will get from your accountant. One way you can save money is to use free business software instead of purchasing expensive software with recurring monthly bills.

There is a great thing on the Internet called the Open Source Community. It is a place where people can contribute to software projects that are completely free to use, even for businesses. There is virtually no type of software that cannot be found for free through their resources. So, the question is, why don’t more people use open source software? They probably just don’t know about it or they have become comfortable using the software programs that are mainstream.

It is easy to use open source software. All you have to do is download the files and install them on your computer. This usually only requires a click of the button. They work exactly like other types of software, so the transition should be very easy.

There are many different ways to find free software downloads for your business on the Internet. You can search for “freeware” or go to dedicated open source websites. The open source community is very informed and usually places software downloads in many different places on the Internet, so make sure you have the newest version.

Wireless printing adds convenience and simplicity to many homes and offices, especially those that have multiple computers all sharing one printer. Purchasing several printers for each individual computer can be very expensive, especially for small business owners who are trying to make ends meet. Instead of cluttering up the desks with cheaper printers, individuals can now purchase one quality printer and connect each computer to have access to printing on it, with no wires or cables required.

Any computer that is linked to a network can print on a network-shared printer. A router is required to link the computers, and the printer can be linked to the network via either the router or a network card. Usually the printer is given a unique name, especially if there are several printers on the network, so that users can print to the correct one. When using Windows, adding a printer is as simple as a few clicks of the mouse, since it comes with step-by-step software that offers guidance to even brand new users. By using wireless printers, many cords and wires winding through the office are eliminated, thus reducing a common safety hazard. One printer is sufficient for even larger offices, since anyone with network access is able to print to any printer nearby.

Sharing a printer has become so much simpler with the ease of using wireless printing options, and has reduced the need for multiple printers cluttering up the space in a home or office. This allows for a more visually appealing workspace, as well as money saved on having to purchase several printers and ink cartridges to fit the needs of each employee.

Take one look at your fridge and you’ll notice one thing: old items end up stuck there, leaving you with the task of cleaning them out: we’re talking about things like rotten fruit, leftovers, nasty bags of lettuce, that sort of thing. Pretty much your everyday fridge is not organization-friendly, but that will all change with the one single refrigerator that can do it all! Hailing from the University of Central Lancashire from the excellent minds of scientists, you have the all-powerful Ocado Self-Cleaning Fridge!

That’s not to say that it actually “self-cleans” the same way an oven does, though. That’s something you still have to work on. The key to the technology is something called “Nano-Articulation,” featuring zillions of little micro-tiles that move and rotate in order to send all kinds of day-old, week-old food products right up to the front of the fridge for you to notice and then either throw out or get to eating. Lord knows you don’t want food to go to waste, obviously.

Another amazing feature of this remarkable home appliance is that it can scan the shelves for the food you happen to have in the fridge. No joke. It will then provide for you a detailed list of recipes on the actual “screen” on the front of the fridge, also teaching you how to cook with the foods, and also fresh foods you might not have in the fridge. Pretty insane! You basically turn your own fridge into a take-home chef. Definitely a refrigerator that does it all.

Say ‘hello’ to Wonder Woman, people. See her jet? Oh, wait, you can’t; it’s invisible. The same goes for her chair, which is now available to you!

Just kidding. It’s not really invisible, nor is it available for purchase. This nifty piece of furniture from designer Ben Alun-Jones called the Affinity Chair is actually only on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. But who knows–maybe we’ll see the commercial furniture market get a hold of this in the future.

How is it invisible, though? Are we talking space-age science fiction stuff here? Not really. You know the clear acrylic mirror film used to tint car windows? That’s the same material coating the whole chair. Reflecting any surface and surrounding it sits on, you actually won’t be able to see this chair until you trip over it. Thankfully, though, the chair is equipped with LED sensor lights that flash when you get too close. You can imagine the strange feeling, too, as you sit on it–because it’ll look as if you’re sitting on air.

If at all possible, if you have any clout in the world, you could possibly contact Ben Alun-Jones, pay him a serious amount of money, for your very own Affinity Chair and then wow your friends when they come into your living room. Or simply learn how to use clear acrylic and mirror film to make your own chair. Either way you look at it, it’s pretty nifty and worth seeing if you ever get the chance!

Go ahead and save your monthly utility bill by using the same substance for the purposes of washing and lathering while listening to some of your favorite radio stations! How? That makes no sense. If you’re listening to your radio, you’re using electricity, right? Not so with this particular radio. This radio, to repeat very clearly, will save you money on your utility bill while helping protect the environment. How much money? How little energy does this radio use then? Try none. None at all.

Okay, how’s that possible? It’s simple. Introducing the first ever Water Powered Shower Radio! You heard right…. It uses no electricity at all, no batteries necessary. It fits onto your shower head much like a hose does, and as you turn the shower on, the water flow enters the H20 Micro Turbine that powers the appliance. Obviously waterproof, you have a timeless piece of home technology with an homage to the environment in this day and age of ozone and landfill awareness. You can’t get much better than that when it comes to green living.

In addition, it costs only $34.95 for an appliance that’ll last a lifetime–no upkeep on batteries and no worries about electrocution, because there are no cords or cables to worry about. The only “cord” you’ll need is the actual shower. Pretty amazing, right? Get your singing-in-the-shower vibe going with some Christina Aguilera and Evanescence today with the Water Powered Shower Radio. Save some of your dollars while you’re at it, too!

It is vital for any businesses to have access to customer feedback in order to determine the overall experience of those who are using their particular goods or services. Customer feedback lets you know what customers thought of their experience dealing with your particular company. With this valuable information, companies can either change their policies to better suit the customer experience, or build upon the strengths that are outlined in the feedback they receive. Among one of the most widely accepted and most effective forms of collecting feedback is the customer survey.

Surveys have long been an important and useful way to obtain customer feedback, and with the growing popularity of the Internet, it has only become more prevalent. For those who are just beginning to explore the prospects of surveys, there are a large number of free online surveys that can be utilized to gain an idea of how the entire process works while simultaneously receiving valuable feedback. While in fact, these free online surveys tend to be limited in the information they offer, they still deliver enough data to provide you with a way to piece together a general idea of what your customers are thinking.

For the most part, customer feedback will come from those individuals who are regulars, and thus, would be the most affected by any potential changes in customer service. As such, you should provide simple yet efficient advertising of your available customer surveys so that they receive the exposure necessary to gain a large enough response. Customer feedback is extremely important to businesses because they can help shape a better overall customer experience, which leads to more profits. Those customers who do take the time to fill out a survey are not only helping themselves, but everyone who uses that particular business for a product or service.

Yes, you hate the battery-acid smell and taste on your tongue of the DEET spray, not to mention it bleeds colors on your skin (annoying, right?). Moreover, it doesn’t always work. Over time those lamps and lanterns that buzz and burn can get sort of gross–like an insect cemetery. Well, there’s a way around all of that with some of the latest in outdoor home technology–with the Four Attractant Mosquito Trap, a clever and convenient alternative to the repellents and bug burners of yesterday. See the world today and tomorrow–

Because certainly those pesky mosquitoes won’t see today and tomorrow! You can bet on that. With the technology of UV light, vibrations, heat, and a scent to attract mosquitoes and many other insects as well, you have a range of one acre total with this remarkable device to wipe out all those biters good and clean without worrying about smell, taste, or the ugliness of a pasty, cruddy lantern hanging just outside your house. It’s quick and easy, utilizing LED and infrared heat with a common smell of octenol found in human breath and sweat, as all it does is trap insects until they die of dehydration–no nasty insecticides or even fire. The process actually involves a specially designed fan to catch insects and reel them in like a tractor beam would, holding the little bugger inside a net resembling something similar to what a spider web does. Only the fate is much worse than any spider could give as the mosquitoes simply sit there trapped for the rest of their little torturous lives.

Save your lawn, your guests, and your animals from the pesky pests out there. Introducing the Four Attractant Mosquito Trap, the latest in outdoor maintenance technology.

You can imagine any cook or chef in the kitchen whistling tunes while sauteeing green beans or asparagus, so why not really do the singing like you’re a star with Jive Records on stage at Madison Square Garden with the £9.99 Sing-A-Long Tongs? Yes, you heard right….

It’s a pair of tongs designed for you to sing songs! Not really, though…. They’re just shaped like a microphone. With the tongs closed, you have the perfect piece for your performance, singing along with Britney Spears or Godsmack or whatever it is you like to listen to on the radio. It’s also dishwasher safe for those times you gnash your teeth singing that Emo music and spit all over the top of it. In addition, the silicone-covered tips on the metal tongs themselves are heat resistant up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, so don’t worry: you’re set for your full-on concert without the worries of exiting the stage after the first song.

You might definitely be the entertainer as well as the chef of the crowd with your performances while you cook for any dinner crowd! Work your audience and get them to wave their hands, maybe put up a few lighters while you serenade them all in a sweeping embrace of romantic, hot rock ballads. Or if you like moshers, make sure your guests move away from the table and get them stomping and thrashing their heads. Whatever style you prefer, remember, you’re the queen or king on the stage–and your audience are your loyal subjects!

Enjoy this product in the kitchen, not only for the cuisine, but for the music couture that envelopes you in your dreams, your voice like an angel to the public! Be the singing cook with the Sing-A-Long Tongs.

Ever since the good ol’ days when Captain Kirk flipped open his communicator, “psychics” everywhere were predicting the advent of technology reaching that level: enter, the flip cell phone! Can anyone say ‘concidence’? That seems to be the state of the world these days: technology seems to be at such an evolution that even some of the most campiest science fiction stuff seems to actually predict what we might actually see in stores.

The same goes for the amazing Amulet Voice Remote, the latest in home technology. What does it do? Let’s go back to have a chat with Captain Kirk, shall we? Better yet, maybe his much older colleague, Captain Jean-Luc Picard with his bald head and refined sensibilities, “Earl Grey Tea, Hot, please?” as he says to the food replication system built into the wall! Yes, to some degree, that is what the Amulet Voice Remote can do!

Believe it. A company from Boise, Idaho, has devised a home appliance system utilizing voice activation technology. Using speech recognition, you can make a call on your cell phone directed to the standard Amulet remote control from wherever you are to command your house to do whatever, whenever, forever. Try turning off the porch lights, the oven, the TV, opening the garage door, starting the dishwasher, etc etc. Utilizing wireless technology, it’s basically turning your whole house into a giant server and your cell phone into the remote control. Pretty nifty, don’t you think?

Now understand this: the system comes with the remote control that you absolutely must Velcro somewhere in your house and never, ever, ever remove (or else the couch would eat it along with everything else). The reason why is your house will go dead without it. Built into the remote is a microphone in which you speak commands, utilizing any Windows Voice Recognition technology or even Skype.

It’s the final frontier of home technology. The Amulet Voice Remote takes you where no homeowner has gone before.
